Finally, after hours and hours spent filling out applications and writing college essays, and then enduring the interminable waiting game, college acceptance (and rejection) letters are beginning to trickle in. Our advice is simple — toss the rejection letters. And celebrate every acceptance whether it is your first choice school or your safety school! Celebrate your achievements and the schools who appreciate you! Once you narrow your choices down and ultimately make the final decision as to which school will be the lucky school to include you in their class of 2020, begin wearing your new school colors. Splurge on college gear. Buy college t-shirts and sweatshirts, hats and caps, college pennants, bedding, watches and jewelry, and anything and everything else to proclaim your new college spirit. …Where the Wild Things Are – A Tribute to Maurice Sendak
“The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye and sailed back over a year and in and out of weeks and through a day and into the night of his very own room where he found his supper waiting for him and it was still hot.” Where the Wild Things Are
As many of you already know, we are huge fans of Maurice Sendak. For more than forty years, the books Maurice Sendak has written and illustrated have nurtured children and adults alike and have challenged established ideas about what children's literature is and should be. The New York Times has recognized that Sendak's work “has brought a new dimension to the American children's book and has helped to change how people visualize childhood.” Parenting recently described Sendak as “indisputably, the most revolutionary force in children's books.”
To honor Mr. Sendak's memory we think the most appropriate tribute is making sure you have at least one Sendak book in your personal library. Here are a few of our favorites! Just scroll over the book cover for the title and click on the picture for a summary of each book.

What is the Ides of March?
courtesy of Jennifer Vernon, for National Geographic News, March 12, 2004
Julius Caesar's bloody assassination on March 15, 44 B.C., forever marked March 15, or the Ides of March, as a day of infamy. It has fascinated scholars and writers ever since. For ancient Romans living before that event, however, an ides was merely one of several common calendar terms used to mark monthly lunar events. The ides simply marked the appearance of the full moon.
But the Ides of March assumed a whole new identity after the events of 44 B.C. The phrase came to represent a specific day of abrupt change that set off a ripple of repercussions throughout Roman society and beyond. Click here for the rest of the article
Today, thanks to the William Shakespeare‘s play Julius Caesar, the soothsayer's warning to Julius Caesar, “Beware the Ides of March,” has forever imbued that date with a sense of foreboding. But here at Party Idea Pros we say the ides of March is just another excuse to party, especially for those interested in ancient Roman history, Shakespeare, or anything toga. Pick and chose from a wide range of ideas. This theme can go as elegant or as bawdy as you desire.
One of our favorite parties of all times was Portia's Peace and Love theme Bat Mitzvah party. It was not only colorful and festive, the theme was thoughtful and perfectly appropriate for the occasion. Ever since, this theme has sat patiently waiting on our “to do” list. Recently we received an email from Shauna planning her daughter's 8 year old birthday party and looking for “peace and love” theme ideas. So finally we have an excuse to move it right up to the top of our list. As we began gathering the best of the best “Peace and Love” party supplies, we quickly realized its versatility since it can be dressed up and down, made elegant or cute. You can decorate this party in bright neons or in Thanksgiving and holiday colors. Not only is a Peace and Love theme perfect for adult and children birthday parties, sweet sixteen, quinceanera, and Bat Mitzvah celebrations, it is also a meaningful fund raising theme, festive holiday party theme, and great for a kick-back, college party or school dance.
