Hollywood has always understood the power of a little drama. A beautiful table, fabulous flowers, candlelight, champagne and one unexpected detail can make an evening feel special before the first drink is poured.
That is the spirit behind this Hollywood theme party. Rather than filling the room with red carpets, movie reels and predictable props, we mixed classic black, white and gold with rich red roses, crystal, Art Deco details and a few unmistakably Hollywood touches. Some looks are glamorous, some are playful and all can be mixed and matched depending on the occasion.
Use these ideas for an Oscar watch party, milestone birthday, anniversary, awards dinner or any celebration that deserves a little star treatment.
Hollywood Theme Party Invitations
Your invitation sets the tone for the party, so let guests know from the beginning that this will be an evening with a little glamour. Black, white and gold is always a natural choice, but your Hollywood themed invitation does not need to duplicate the table or decorations. Think of it as the opening scene rather than a preview of every detail to come.
Make a Statement With the Centerpiece
Our favorite Hollywood piece remains this oversized gold figure pedestal. It has enough presence to transform a table on its own and can hold flowers, candles, hors d'oeuvres or another centerpiece.
For our most glamorous table, we topped it with a generous arrangement of ivory flowers and deep red roses. The contrast of red, cream, black and gold feels luxurious and immediately gives the room a sense of occasion. Red crystal wine glasses pick up the roses beautifully and add another layer of rich color to the table.
The centerpiece is dramatic by design, so the flowers should have enough scale to balance it. Hydrangeas, roses and other full blooms work particularly well. A florist can certainly create the arrangement, but the pedestal also makes a wonderful starting point for anyone who enjoys arranging flowers at home.
Set a Hollywood Glam Table
Black, white and gold feels especially at home with a Hollywood theme, but the details keep the palette from becoming predictable. Gold chargers create a rich foundation, white dinner plates lighten the table and decorative salad plates add pattern and personality.
Rather than choosing one matching salad plate, we love the collected look of mixing several black, white and gold patterns around the table. Art Deco geometrics, gold marble, scalloped edges and graphic black designs all work together beautifully because the palette remains consistent.
Black napkins with a thin gold edge add another polished detail without competing with the dinnerware. Gold flatware and clear crystal complete the setting, while small gold envelope place cards provide a subtle nod to awards night.

Mixing favorite pieces with a few new black and gold accents gives the table a collected, glamorous look rather than a perfectly matched one. Fine china can sit beside a simple gold charger, and treasured crystal can mix easily with newer glassware.
A Modern Hollywood Table
For a long rectangular table, carry the black, gold and red palette down the center with low roses and tall brass candlesticks. The repeated flowers and candlelight create plenty of drama while keeping the center of the table open for conversation.
Small vases filled with deep red roses look especially striking against black linens. Add gold chargers, decorative plates, crystal and brass candlesticks for a dinner table that feels glamorous without becoming overly formal.

For a larger dinner, simply continue the bud vases and candlesticks down the length of the table. The flowers do not need to match perfectly. Slight variations in height and fullness give the table a gracious, naturally collected look.
Serve Simple Food in Fun, Beautiful Ways
One of the easiest ways to elevate any party is with fun serving pieces. You do not need an elaborate appetizer menu when familiar favorites are presented in creative, individual servings that are easy to pick up while guests mingle.
Think shrimp cocktail in Asian soup spoons, caprese salads in small glasses, charcuterie cups, mini martini salads, deviled eggs on a decorative serving platter or bite sized appetizers arranged on small trays. Individual portions look beautiful, keep the appetizer table neater and encourage guests to sample a little of everything.
Most of these serving pieces can appear again at birthdays, bridal showers, holiday gatherings and cocktail parties. For this Hollywood table, gold trays, crystal glasses, black and gold cocktail napkins and a few red roses pull familiar appetizers into the party palette.

A large charcuterie board makes a beautiful anchor for the appetizer table. Add a selection of individual bites around it so guests can nibble, mingle and enjoy a cocktail before everyone sits down for dinner.
Finish With a Hollywood Dessert Table
Dessert is the perfect place to introduce a little more whimsy. We brought in our favorite black and white checks, then mixed them with gold stands, Art Deco details, red flowers and a collection of small desserts. The checks break up all the black and gold and give the buffet a graphic, almost fashion inspired quality.
Stack checked dessert plates where guests can easily reach them, then fill the table with a mix of chocolate cupcakes, decorated cookies, macarons, chocolate covered strawberries, petit fours, truffles and a small statement cake. The desserts do not all need to follow the theme. A few black, white and gold details scattered through the display are enough to tie everything together.

The gold figure pedestal looks just as fabulous on the dessert table topped with flowers, a favorite serving piece or a tray of sweets. It is such a distinctive piece that it can move easily from one part of the party to another.
Glitz and Glam black cocktail napkins with gold stars, geometric patterns or simple gold trim are an easy finishing detail. Clapperboard napkins add a playful movie reference, especially on the dessert or cocktail table, where a little novelty feels right at home.
Create a Hollywood Photo Moment
A Hollywood party deserves photographs, and a dedicated photo area gives guests a natural place to gather throughout the evening. Set it away from the dining table so it feels like its own little destination.
Our vintage style Photos marquee sign provides the focal point. Add an instant camera, favorite photographs and a few black, gold and red details, and the photo station becomes part of the decor as well as part of the fun.

A personalized filmstrip works especially well for a milestone birthday, anniversary or celebration honoring one person. Fill it with favorite photographs and hang it vertically as a backdrop or display piece.
The gold pedestal can make another appearance here topped with champagne coupes. Guests can stop for a photograph whenever the mood strikes, while the photo station remains a relaxed part of the evening rather than an organized activity.
Set Up a Hollywood Swag Table
No Hollywood celebration would be complete without a little swag. Awards season gift bags have become almost as famous as the ceremonies themselves, which gives us plenty of room to have fun with party favors.
Fill black and gold bags or boxes with a mix of treats, candles, beauty finds, chocolates or small gifts. They do not need to be identical. A varied assortment feels much more like the wonderfully unpredictable swag bags associated with awards season.

And if you really want to lean into the over the top awards season spirit, the Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance makes a fabulous splurge swag gift. The sculptural gold bottle even gives it a little awards night attitude.
For an adults only gathering, the swag table can also become a lighthearted gift exchange. Guests who want to participate can bring something they are ready to regift, whether it is fabulous, funny or completely ridiculous. Let everyone trade as the evening unfolds. The worse the gift, the better the story, while guests who would rather sip champagne and watch the negotiations can happily do that too.
Pull the Hollywood Look Together
Hollywood glamour does not come from filling every corner with themed decorations. A dramatic centerpiece, beautiful black and gold table settings, candlelight, red roses and a fabulous photo area can set the mood throughout the evening.
Choose the details you love, whether that means an extravagant centerpiece, a collection of fabulous salad plates, a glowing photo sign or a table filled with Hollywood swag. Add crystal, flowers and candlelight, then let the evening unfold in your own version of Hollywood style.
Party Hearty!
