We asked, Izzy, our very own fashionista to try out the latest and greatest from Rent The Runway >> their Unlimited days option. Just to back up a bit, Izzy has used Rent the Runway to wear high end designer label clothes to special occasions off and on over the past few years. She has tended to use them for what she would call one-time dresses. These are dresses that stand out so much she would most likely not recycle them for another event. For example, she once rented the Herve Lager Citrus Flamingo Dress to wear to a Vegas style theme party. There is no way she would ever consider purchasing a curve hugging bandage dress for $1450 retail but for $40.00 it was the perfect 1x wear dress for that event. Similarly she has rented dresses to wear to luau themed cocktail parties, New Year's Eve, and holiday parties. She even considered renting the Moschino Think Pink cropped sweater and matching bag to create a Barbie look for Halloween one year. But now that Izzy works for a renowned fashion house, she needs to look professional, yet on trend, each and every day. So she decided to give Rent the Runway's Unlimited Days a try and she loves it! It is so much fun having new clothes appear at her doorstep. She tends to wear each of the three outfits once or twice and then sends them back for new options. Izzy's only issue is finding the time to select the new outfits. Not a bad problem to have. (In full disclosure – neither Izzy nor PartyIdeaPros received any discount or compensation for using Rent the Runway Unlimited. The fact is we did not even receive our usual referral commission because we wanted to keep this experiment and subsequent review as impartial and fair as possible. Having said that, if you do end up purchasing something from our RTR link, we should receive a small percentage of the sale. We promise – you will not pay any more.) Continue Reading →
Cocktails are Back! Trending Cocktail Recipes
Many moons ago, back when 18 was the drinking age in Wisconsin, my girlfriends and I would pile into a car and make the hour long drive across the Illinois Wisconsin state border to sip on Tom Collins and Tequila Sunrise cocktails, usually adorned with cute umbrellas or fun stirrers. But by the time I graduated from college, wine had become the “it” beverage and very few of my cohorts knew how to mix even the simplest cocktail. Now that cocktails are once again the drink of choice, many of us early boomers need a refresher. Obviously, today you can google the name of any drink and will receive pages and pages of recipes. The challenge becomes which recipe is the best. Well Drizzly has gathered the best of the best recipes together in one easy location and tells you exactly what you need for each drink. Here is the kicker >> once you decide on tonight's cocktail of choice, you can have all the ingredients delivered right to your front door within an hour. Yes, you read that correctly. So if you have already had a drink or two, no need to drive!!!! All the ingredients you need for that B52 shot you have been craving (or whatever else has tickled your fancy) can be delivered to your door within an hour!!!! Continue Reading →

Summer seems to be the time of year that many of our young friends are setting up new homes and beginning their adult lives, including entering the wonderful world of home entertaining. Not surprisingly, inspired by the amazing bar carts showcased on Pinterest, one of the questions we are most often asked is what are the 10 essentials for the home bar? We recently discovered this great home bar essentials guide by one of our favorite gift merchants, A Gift Personalized (yes, the very same company we turn to for bridesmaid gifts & groomsmen gifts.) Every once in a while we actually laugh out loud at something that comes across our Facebook feed. This morning we laughed ourselves silly over this You've Got Mail cartoon so wittily depicting something we have been harping on for ages >> No matter how formal or informal your party, mail your invitations! Those email invites not only get lost in all of our inboxes, they fail to elicit joy and excitement and a sense of anticipation in the recipient. And keep this cartoon in mind when you are tempted to email your thank you notes. A beautifully written handwritten note still makes a more thoughtful impression.
