It is that time of year. School is starting and pledge season follows shortly. So we thought it might be the perfect time to once again share our hands down favorite Pi Beta Phi arrow gift.
For years we have been proclaiming that if we could own one and only one piece of jewelry that screamed Pi Beta Phi, it would be these stunning Stella & Dot “On the Mark” Arrow Necklaces. It is amazing how one small icon can embody the essence of a Pi Phi woman: strong, bold, direct, and purposeful yet subtle, delicate, and feminine. This beautiful arrow necklace is a must have for any Pi Beta Phi, pledge or alum. Buy one for yourself and one for your big and little sister. Not only will the arrow necklaces remind you of where you have been but it will also keep you pointed in the right direction going forward.

Today is Mountain Day! The Smith College bells were rung early this morning (October 5th) to announce that the college's president has suspended classes for the day. Students are free to go hiking, have picnics, pick apples at local farms, or just take a relaxing break. #smithmountainday
What a beautiful tradition! As some of you who have been following me for a while know, this is not the first time I have waxed poetic about Mountain Day. I truly believe that every institution and organization should establish a similar holiday dedicated to re-invigorating the soul. Continue Reading →
An OMG Big Brother & Big Sister Baby Shower Gift
Just when when we think there are no more products to put a logo on we are giddy with surprise. These team spirit booster seats make for an OMG big brother & big sister baby shower gift. How perfect is this for a couples shower where so many of the friends invited are college buddies and gal pals of the dad and mom-to-be. Yes, we admit we are jumping the gun because these team spirit booster seats are not meant to replace your car seat. These are the seats your child graduates into once they are at least 40 pounds and 4 years of age. It is the gizmo you keep your child in until he or she is big enough to fit in a seat belt properly. Obviously, only consider this gift if the parents-to-be have the room to store it or if they have an older child who will soon be passing along his or her car seat to the new baby and graduating into a booster seat. Clearly we are true believers that indoctrination into the Trojan Nation, or whatever your favorite college team, works best when started early!
These team spirit booster seats would also make great birthday presents and holiday gifts for children making the transition into the “big kid” booster seat, especially if they are whining that they are old enough and do not need a booster seat. Please, please, do not cave into the whine – according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention)
“Booster seat use reduces the risk for serious injury by 45% for children aged 4–8 years when compared with seat belt use alone!”
Finally, after hours and hours spent filling out applications and writing college essays, and then enduring the interminable waiting game, college acceptance (and rejection) letters are beginning to trickle in. Our advice is simple — toss the rejection letters and celebrate every acceptance whether it is your first choice school or your safety school! Celebrate your achievements and the schools who appreciate you! Once you narrow your choices down and ultimately make the final decision as to which school will be the lucky school to include you in their class of 2015, begin wearing your new school colors. Splurge on college gear. Buy college t-shirts and sweatshirts, hats and caps, college pennants, bedding, watches and jewelry, and anything and everything else to proclaim your new college spirit.
Party Idea Pros' hands down favorite store for buying college fan gear? Fanatics. It offers a large selection of licensed merchandise at competitive prices. Looking for Greek Gear? Check out GreekCreations.com…
Congratulations, Party Hearty (and Fight On)!
Despite all of today's high tech gadgets and ways to track and sync our busy schedules, college coeds still often prefer the old fashion day planner. Case in point: my daughter Isabelle who is always right on top of what is in and what is not spent hours on her one day home this summer searching for and then custom designing this year's day planner. She already knew many of the girls in her classes at USC would be sporting an Erin Condren planner this semester so she wanted hers to stand out from the rest.
This is a bit embarrassing to admit but it took us multiple hours to perfect her design. Izzy wanted her planner to coordinate with her new chevron bedding without being too matchy matchy. (It probably would have taken only 15 minutes from start to finish if she would have just been willing to order Erin Condren's fabulous zig zag planner, but no such luck.) Plus she wanted different, but coordinating designs on the front and on the back of the planner. A tad complicated but oh so cute!
This particular design was actually inspired by the scrapbook paper she used to decorate her under-bed storage drawers. Last year her dorm room
was all about everything sweet
and candied dreams
. This year she is going a bit more kids jungle safari
combined with the latest chevron patterns and even a bit of chalkboard chic
. I have to admit, the final product really is great especially since it has all sorts of organizing tools built right in. For me, it was definitely worth both the time and money spent on this planner especially if Isabelle actually uses it and actually gets herself to class on time with assignments in hand!
