Our latest obsession is GreatGets.com's Daily Halloween Costume Series. We don't follow many sites religiously but we have been loving the creativity of the costume ideas and GreatGets.com‘s spot on pulse on trends. We are also enjoying the diversity of their posts. Yesterday they featured three great wear-again plus size costumes including our favorite Morton Salt Girl costume for under $30.00. We especially like that they are willing to spend time and do their research. Since their goal was to assemble a cute teen costume for under $30.00, rather than taking the easy path and turning to traditional costume sites like HalloweenCostumes.com, instead they found a dresses on sale on sale at Modcloth and then created a costume around the dress. We also really like both the Rose Fairy costume and their version of a Great Gatsby Roaring '20s Garden Party Costume. The best part is that you really can wear all three dresses again without feeling you are wearing your Halloween costume. We guess that's what makes these costumes great gets!

Just today we received an email from Shopstyle announcing that outfits rather than costumes are 2015's hottest Halloween trend. We wanted to scream – told you so! Every Halloween we feature real life clothes that can be dressed up for Halloween and then worn again throughout the year.

For example a must own little black dress like the one featured below, and available in sizes xs – 4x, can be paired with black cat bags, headbands, shoes, jewelry and cat face paint. And then after Halloween you can continue to wear the dress and all the accessories, just not all together.

It is always a challenge to find budget friendly special occasion outfits. If you are anything like us, we really, really dislike spending lots of money on a dress that will have limited wear yet we do not want to sacrifice style and fit – basically we want to party pretty! Halloween is one of those days that we always have trouble spending money on ourselves. We have no problem buying a costume for the kids but hate to spend anything on those hot itchy polyester (read plastic) Halloween costumes for one, sure to be uncomfortable, night out. Instead, we much prefer finding a fabulous (but inexpensive) dress that we can transform into a costume for the night but whip out again for another evening on the town.
