Every once in a while we receive a request that requires us to drop everything and get right on it. Tonight I received such a call from my mom & dad simply asking “Where are your Thanksgiving place cards?” When I went back to our Thanksgiving Entertaining Planning, Ideas, and Supplies package I realized although we had a few cute place card holders featured there were no fabulous place cards. The challenge was on! Continue Reading →
They are back!!!! Two years ago, we ordered five sets of these solar-powered globe string lights to criss-cross our patio. We were hosting Thanksgiving and the solar powered patio lights would add a canopy effect plus when combined with lots of candles, provide enough light even after sunset. We could not have been more pleased with the entire look and decided to keep the lights up year round.
The fact that these globe string lights are solar-powered was absolutely essential to my purchase decision making process. We do not have an outdoor outlet nearby so we would have had to either spend lots of money on an electrician or run the lights under the french doors into the living room. Neither of those solutions were acceptable. Instead, we were able to attach the lights' solar panels to the roof. I won't lie, you can see them but they are not a distraction or an eyesore. All was good.
That is until about a month ago when a wind storm hit the patio. The tape I used to attach the lights to the wire infrastructure I had created, was old and cracked and basically gave out. The lights fell and that was that. Ever since, I have been searching for a comparable product. After weeks and weeks of research we had an aha moment and finally checked Amazon and of course Amazon offers a large selection of solar powered globe string lights!

Now that Halloween is behind us, mom's are beginning to think about what their daughters will wear to this year's Thanksgiving dinner and holiday parties. Our first stop for girls Thanksgiving outfits is always Tea Collection. Not only are the clothes adorable, every girl we know loves these easy to wear pieces. The rompers and coordinating leggings are not at all confining and their soft durable fabrics pass most girls “itchy & tickle tests”. We also love the bright colors and fashion forward prints that satisfy our constant need to be teaching our children about the world. (Tea Collection clothes are authentically inspired with a fundamental artistic interpretation of the global destination. Continue Reading →
We recently stumbled upon a DIY gift idea involving baking mini banana breads in ball mason jars (lightly oil the jars and only fill batter about half way up). We liked almost everything about the project except the bedraggled cloth tied to the lids – it cheapened the entire look and not surprisingly, we believed we could find a way to make a good idea even better >> hence, Cheap Chic Holiday Gifts – Cupcakes in a Glass Bell Jar !
As usual, however, when we begin obsessing about a project, we never quite know the direction our research will take us. This time we got sidetracked and quickly became enamored with these featured wonderful Miniature Glass Bell Jars with White Fluted Base. How great would it be to add an adorable holiday cupcake wrapper to create a festive, chic and expensive looking little gift of thanks. It would be especially cute if you used the Merry & Bright Cupcake Kit, The Nutcracker Cupcake Kit, The Twelve Days of Christmas Cupcake Kit, or create more of a non-denominational winter wonderland look using the damask light blue patterned cupcake wrappers (perfect for teacher gifts!)
OMG – now that we are thinking of it these would make fabulous party favors for just about any celebration. For Thanksgiving make pumpkin cupcakes and decorate them with the Turkey with Hats Cupcake Kit. For baby showers think Peter Rabbit, Animal Parade, and vintage baby cupcake wrappers. And how perfect are these glass bell jars for a chic Paris Party!
Buy the glass jars in bulk (they are cheaper that way) and store them away for whenever you need a cheap but chic little gift of thanks.

It has taken me a bit to get used to but every year my husband's family mails out Thanksgiving invitations. Although this tradition may seem a bit formal, it is actually quite lovely. Each year the invitation itself sets the tone for that year’s Thanksgiving festivities. Moreover, the actual receipt of the invitation ignites conversations and anticipation about seeing aunts, uncles, and cousins galore. We even look forward to guessing what valuables the new batch of toddlers will inevitably break.
So before you get too overwhelmed with holiday planning, we made your job a little easier – here is an overview of the best of the best Thanksgiving invitations to inspire you. Every year all our favorite merchants introduce a fresh batch of Thanksgiving invitations so be sure to to scroll through all of your options so you can familiarize yourself with the new looks as well as the more classic stationery styles. Last year when we were hosting a California Thanksgiving, I purposely chose an elegant look rather than a ultra casual style because I wanted all the New Englanders to rest assured that although we would definitely put a unique San Diego spin on Thanksgiving, we would still honor the traditions they had learned to love and come to expect. Thanksgiving Wine Recommendations
We are thrilled to be able to recommend a handful of perfect wines to serve for Thanksgiving dinner available for purchase at a fraction of the retail cost. The folks over at The California Wine Club have developed an expertise in discovering quality wines at reasonable prices and have put together this wonderful list of Thanksgiving wine recommendations . For almost a quarter of a century, each month, owners Bruce & Pam Boring travel California's wine country searching out the wineries, meeting the families and tasting the wines that never make it to local stores or wine shops. Best yet, they have done the research for us and have gathered what we believe is a wonderful selection of wines that would pair well with the tastes and smells of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. And don't worry – you do not have to join the wine club to purchase any of these bottles. The only requirement is that you buy in 6 bottle or 12 bottle increments which should be no problem if you, like many of us, are expecting a crowd this Thanksgiving. Cheers!
Although the original autumn paper table setting placemats sold out long ago, we just found these very similar Farmers Market Paper Placemat Pads (and no, they are not limited time offerings – they are available all year round!)
We recommend you combine these stylish-yet-rustic paper placemats, paper napkins, and paper table runners, each adorned with a motif of fresh garden vegetables, to create a stunning Thanksgiving table. The combination will result in the oft sought but hard to achieve sense of sophistication and quality that comes across as effortless.
Although I haven't completely made up my mind, with 50 relatives ringing the doorbell at exactly 1:00 on Thanksgiving Thursday, I am very tempted to go with this design aesthetic. The idea would be to combine the causal elegance of this kraft paper design with my collection of fine china, Fiesta dinnerware and crystal stemware. Not only does this design blend seamlessly into my industrial modern home decor, I think it will make re-setting the tables in between courses so much easier – I can just snatch up the dirty placemats, toss them in the trash and add a fresh mat at each place setting Plus, I could pull the look all together with copper colander centerpieces (filled with fresh seasonal vegetables, and cacti or ivy filler) and chalkboard chic food tags. Since I serve so many different dishes to satisfy a vast array of dietary restrictions, I think it might be helpful to label them all so individuals can choose whether or not to partake. And while I am thinking about it, wouldn't it be great to serve Moscow Mules in copper cups as a festive drink to visually compliment the centerpieces?
We are excited to add these fresh and chic red chevron (zig zag) pajamas from Bedhead Pajamas to our Mommy and Me Pajama selections.
Not only do we love this new chevron pattern, we think the whole matching pajama thing works particularly well during the holiday season when family members from all over the globe gather together in one place to celebrate the holidays and their devotion to family. Every year at Thanksgiving we all bunk down together and I always bring matching pajamas for all the gals (I gave up on the guys wearing their matching pj's a few years ago.) And of course, we take an annual family photo.
If you are still looking for matching mommy & me pajamas, be sure to check out MomMeMatch.com. All we can say is #toocute
