Do you have a new mom on your holiday shopping list? These beautiful, customizable notebooks make perfect holiday gifts. While mother and child are busy making memories during the day, mom can spend her few quiet hours memorializing them in her new custom journal. I know, I know – no one thinks they will forget these moments but as time goes by, most of us need a bit of refreshing on some of the little details. I never thought I would admit this but even though the visions are seared in my memory forever, for the life of me I cannot remember the exact days my children first smiled, or sat up, or spoke their first words. Today I sure wish I had taken the time to write down the details in a beautiful custom journal.
Despite all of today's high tech gadgets and ways to track and sync our busy schedules, college coeds still often prefer the old fashion day planner. Case in point: my daughter Isabelle who is always right on top of what is in and what is not spent hours on her one day home this summer searching for and then custom designing this year's day planner. She already knew many of the girls in her classes at USC would be sporting an Erin Condren planner this semester so she wanted hers to stand out from the rest.
This is a bit embarrassing to admit but it took us multiple hours to perfect her design. Izzy wanted her planner to coordinate with her new chevron bedding without being too matchy matchy. (It probably would have taken only 15 minutes from start to finish if she would have just been willing to order Erin Condren's fabulous zig zag planner, but no such luck.) Plus she wanted different, but coordinating designs on the front and on the back of the planner. A tad complicated but oh so cute!
This particular design was actually inspired by the scrapbook paper she used to decorate her under-bed storage drawers. Last year her dorm room
was all about everything sweet
and candied dreams
. This year she is going a bit more kids jungle safari
combined with the latest chevron patterns and even a bit of chalkboard chic
. I have to admit, the final product really is great especially since it has all sorts of organizing tools built right in. For me, it was definitely worth both the time and money spent on this planner especially if Isabelle actually uses it and actually gets herself to class on time with assignments in hand!
