This weekend was dedicated to finding the perfect luau theme cocktail party dress. No easy task considering the the stores are now featuring their fall lines – resort wear has not yet been released and summer dresses have been banished from showroom floors.

Bright purple platform sandals as cute as they are comfortable!
Did we find the perfect dress? Not quite perfect but we settled for a flouncy orange and purple baby doll dress that can be paired with some fun lilac strappy sandals, dangling earrings and the piece de resistance, this lovely realistic orchid hairpin to tie the entire look together. Izzy will wear her hair in a beach wavy style and slide the orchid just behind her ear. Now that's what we call Party Pretty!

Oddly enough, we had an even more difficult time finding the perfect hair accessory than the dress itself. There are lots and lots of flower hair clips available, but most are fake and cheesy looking. They usually are either too small or too large and don't fit comfortably. These orchid hair pins are both priced right and fit well.

This orchid hairpin is also the perfect hair accessory for a summer casual or destination wedding, as a beautiful accessory to a beach or surf theme party or even an upscale costume party since island theme costumes can easily straddle the fine line between elegant and sexy. It is always fun to find an accessory that is not only pretty but can be worn over and over in many different contexts – we will definitely be adding this hair piece to our must own accessory list.
