Best Holiday Party Theme – Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

Best Holiday Party Theme of 2012 - Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

The 2012 holiday season is definitely the year to host{ess} a pink snowball holiday party.  With Hostess declaring bankruptcy this week the end of an era has arrived.  If you hurry you may still be able to pick up a few packs of classic Hostess Sno Balls – the long popular chocolate creme filled cakes covered in marshmallow and then covered in coconut flakes.  Better yet, start a new holiday tradition – throw a Pink Snowball baking party! This theme would also work great as an adorable winter bridal or baby shower, a great sorority holiday party, teacher appreciation holiday luncheon, or a sweet sixteen or Quinceanera party!

We can't believe after lots, and lots of searching we finally found invitations, stamps, centerpieces (just add pink or white tightly packed carnations arranged to resemble a snowball or better yet top with an edible sno ball!), and matching aprons that all coordinate  perfectly with this party theme.  We even found a recipe for homemade hostess sno balls.

Even though coconut is my least favorite food of all time, I must admit this has to be the best holiday party theme of 2012.

Party Hearty!

Little Gifts of Thanks

Little Gifts of Thanks

Little Gifts of Thanks

by Dani (PIP summer intern)

Every once in a while, each of us goes through a stage or phase where as much as we hate to, we need to rely on the kindness of friends, family, and even strangers to help us out.  Sometimes we are home bound and a friend will run to the grocery store for us.  Other times, we need someone to take us to the doctor's office,  pick our children up from school, or just be there with a heartfelt hug.  It seems insensitive,  verging on insulting to offer a “too big” gift as a thank you, but a little token of thanks is thoughtful, sweet, and absolutely appropriate.  Our suggestion is that if, and when, you are finding yourself relying on the kindness of others, consider stocking up on small gifts that you can keep in a basket and give when the moment moves you.  Surprisingly, it has been hard to find the perfect token gifts of appreciation  but here are a few of our favorites.  Keep checking back because as we come across “little somethings” we will add them here.

Hint:  Items that come bundled but are packed attractively, individually, can easily be broken up into smaller gifts.  Instead of giving a pack of 24 soaps, give just one or tie 3 together with personalized ribbon!

Chalkboard Chic

Chalkboard Invitations, Place Cards, Table Numbers, Party & Home Decor, and  More

It doesn't take more than a minute or two perusing Pinterest to know that vintage is in.  Brides have especially been loving our vintage tin tile  outdoor wedding photography backdrops and magnetic seating charts & escort card boards.  Today we want to make sure every one is aware of the newest trend in vintage — chalkboard everything.  At first we thought it it was our personal obsession after discovering a ceiling tile chalkboard  but after my daughter called and said she painted a chalkboard wall and created 2 chalkboard side tables in her summer apartment rental, I knew I was on to something.  Izzy is always a beat or two ahead of burgeoning trends.  And then today, I opened my email and there waiting for me was a note from Tiny Prints with the subject  “Chalk it up to Birthdays”” featuring their latest fashion forward invitations.

So today we have chosen to  showcase this chic new chalkboard trend in invitations and suggest coordinating your place cards / escort cards, table numbers, party & home decor.  Once we began our quest, we were amazed at how much chalkboard “stuff” is readily available online. Plus, as Izzy could tell you, you can easily transform just about anything into a chalkboard decor yourself using a can of chalkboard paint or chalkboard peel & stick papers.

Just a note of caution – if you DIY, make sure you check the color on the container.  Turns out chalkboard paint comes in both black and green.  I wanted black but mistakenly bought green paint.  I ended up trying the green, not liking it, and repainting my ceiling tile chalkboards with the black  chalkboard spray paint.
