Our close friends and occasional PIP contributors, Vicki and Paige, landed in Waco, Texas for a fun week in search of all things fabulous. It did not take them long to discover a set of wonderful burlap silverware holders. We hate to admit it but this was our first encounter with utensil holders and we are smitten. So of course, we felt compelled to spend a couple of of hours researching burlap utensil pockets and then decided to share a few of our favorites with you. We love Thanksgiving. It not only brings together family far and near but when done well, Thanksgiving is a leisurely day of game playing and game watching, cooking and eating. And we usually throw in an early morning walk for charity so we don't feel quite so decadent. Last year we planned our extended family vacation. This year, we will most likely plan Popol's 80th birthday celebration. But in between, as always, Izzy, Ali and Jen will get together to decide which of the many Thanksgiving games we will play this year.
Thanksgiving is now just a little over two weeks away and it really is time to start thinking about all the little details to make your Thanksgiving celebration memorable. Yes, delicious food matters, but so does your presentation. Today we are focusing on edible Thanksgiving centerpieces. As much as we adore flowers, we are also very pragmatic and get ridiculously excited when we find fabulous “two-fers” or in other words, products that serve two purposes.
In this case, all four of these ideas are visually interesting and practical. Think DIY vegetable and/or fruit filled cornucopias, fruit turkey arrangements, giant chocolate turkeys, and yummy duos of caramel apple turkeys. Which would we choose? All four! Definitely the chocolate concoctions for the main table centerpieces, a brimming over vegetable cornucopia on the appetizer table, and the fruit turkey on the dessert table (such a fun way to present your healthy dessert option).
