What could be easier? Are you like us — we plan every detail of our parties. We plan the invitations, the party decor, the party favors, the food. But we never think about planning activities absolutely convinced that our guests are interesting and engaging individuals and can easily entertain themselves. (except for children's parties where we plan and schedule every minute).
And then once in a while, we either have a sneaking suspicion a day or so in advance or are caught completely off guard right then and there. It is then we realize things aren't going so well. We have had political conversations go ballistic and strident parenting advice get a bit overbearing. There is not much to do about it except quickly change the conversation. That's where these Halloween printable games come in extraordinarily handy. In just a few minutes, we can change the course of the evening. Don't get caught in a scary spot. Plan ahead this Halloween by having a stack of pre-printed games ready at a moments notice. Have a fun-filled Halloween and party hearty!
One more thought … many of these print and play games work great in a classroom. Some are even customizable so you can tailor them to your lesson or set them aside for your classroom Halloween celebration.

We love this painted pumpkin vase with fresh flowers that showed up on our Facebook feed from Beau-coup, one of our favorite party favor merchants. Yes, flowers always look great in pumpkins but an orange pumpkin with fall flowers is very predictable. All they did in this photo was spray paint this pumpkin white and add a chic contemporary floral arrangement to create a fresh centerpiece look for fall. We love the painted pumpkin displayed on the acacia cake stand also!
We also think this idea would translate well to an intimate dinner party or could even be used at each place setting as a place card / party favor (one per couple is just fine!). Simply use a miniature painted pumpkin and add a handful of freshly picked ombre flowers...
We are definitely adding this to our We <3 Fall Pinterest board as we gather ideas for this year's Thanksgiving festivities. Continue Reading →
The Book Of Mormon Inspired Group Costumes
At the last minute my husband and I made a spur of the moment decision to attend parents' weekend at USC. Too late to get football tickets, we decided to try to get tickets to see The Book of Mormon. Every time we visit NYC we look into getting tickets but the prices are prohibitively high.
Not that The Book of Mormon tickets in Los Angeles were inexpensive, but this time we decided to go for it and am I glad we did. Not only did I love the characters of Elder Price and the rest of the gang but I must admit, while watching the fabulous staged “Mormon Spooky Hell Dream” number I was inspired — I couldn't wait to get home and try to pull a last minute group costume together for you. I promise, it is not too late to order your Halloween costume online and receive delivery before next weekend's Halloween festivities begin. Continue Reading →

Personalized Halloween Cocktail Napkins
When we first saw this picture on Tiny Prints instagram, all we could think of is we need to share this modern take on a very classic party idea. Years ago, no self respecting hostess would consider throwing a party without having ordered personalized cocktail napkins. We find it fascinating that all things from the 1970's are very much back in vogue this year including cocktail napkins. The only difference is that in the day, the graphic was design was usually minimal, maybe a small rose or leaf combined with the guest of honor's name in one of a half dozen or so typography choices. Today, we are privy to fabulous graphics and a whole slew of fonts from which to choose. Continue Reading →
Our latest obsession is GreatGets.com's Daily Halloween Costume Series. We don't follow many sites religiously but we have been loving the creativity of the costume ideas and GreatGets.com‘s spot on pulse on trends. We are also enjoying the diversity of their posts. Yesterday they featured three great wear-again plus size costumes including our favorite Morton Salt Girl costume for under $30.00. We especially like that they are willing to spend time and do their research. Since their goal was to assemble a cute teen costume for under $30.00, rather than taking the easy path and turning to traditional costume sites like HalloweenCostumes.com, instead they found a dresses on sale on sale at Modcloth and then created a costume around the dress. We also really like both the Rose Fairy costume and their version of a Great Gatsby Roaring '20s Garden Party Costume. The best part is that you really can wear all three dresses again without feeling you are wearing your Halloween costume. We guess that's what makes these costumes great gets!
Best Teen Costume – Sailor Moon!
The results are unanimous! At least so far this year, Party Idea Pros favorite teen costumes are without a doubt these Sailor Moon Costumes. True to the appearance of the actual Sailor anime cartoon characters, these costumes are increasingly difficult to find so you will definitely not see them everywhere. Additionally, they work perfectly for our theory that since most teenage girls travel in packs, their costumes must not only be cute and somewhat appropriate, they also need to be available in multiple colors and styles so all their girlfriends can coordinate. This particular costume has the added advantage of having a guy version too! In fact, these would make great couples costumes also!
Tuxedo Mask Costume | Prince Darian
So who exactly is Sailor Moon? Sailor Moon, also known as Usagi Tsukino, is an underachieving schoolgirl who lives in Tokyo. She meets Luna who is searching for the Moon Princess. Luna discovers that she is destined to save Earth from the forces of evil and gives Usagi a brooch to transform into Sailor Moon, and asks her to form the Sailor Soldiers, find their princess and protect the “Legendary Silver Crystal.” As Usagi matures, she becomes one of the universe's powerful warriors and protects her adopted home planet, Earth, from villains who wish to harm it. Usagi is depicted as carefree and cheerful when at ease but quickly serious and strategic-minded when fighting.
So gals, as you hit the street together as superheroes Sailor Jupiter, Sailor, Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Moon this Halloween have fun and please be safe!
