These days, it is more important than ever to tell the people you care about how much they mean to you. Since we are not able to just stop by and say hi, it is time to get inventive. Make someone's day by sending them a little something that just says “thinking of you” so they can stay safe and have fun at home. It does not have to be grand nor expensive, the goal is just to make their day a little bit brighter. Continue Reading →
We are obsessed with this post on The California Wine Club's blog pairing wine with holiday cookies! From the opening line “Why should milk have all the fun?” to the fact that The California Wine Club actually has sound reasons for their suggested pairings, we were hooked. And then to reel us in, they created this great holiday cookie wine pairing chart. We are almost as impressed with this post as we are with their wine offerings. How fun would it be to gift a plate of yummy homemade cookies with the perfectly paired wine or better yet, Save 50% on First Month When You Join a Club Level (10/1-12/31). Continue Reading →
We always envy our friends who can whip a plate of delicious AND gorgeous cookies that somehow capture the essence of whatever party or event they are hosting. For Ashley's baby shower, Vicki managed to create darling intricately decorated baby carriage cookies and always has a plate of fabulous football field cookies at the entrance to her legendary college football viewing parties.
I always chocked up Vicki's baking and decorating talents to the “things her mother taught her” category. Much to my surprise, Vicki recently revealed her secret to me. She sprung the $40.00 to take Anne Yorks online Celebrate with Cookies – 19 Favorite Cookie Decorating Designs Bluprint class! Yep! I guess we now have no excuse to serve plain rather than decorated cookies! And it turns out Vicki not only watched Anne Yorks' class, she has been enrolling in Bluprint cooking decorating classes for years! According to Vicki, each class helps her practice and perfect her technique.
Unfortunately, Bluprint is no longer offering classes but you can check out Anne Yorks' The Flour Box Shop videos on her YouTube channel!

Little Gifts of Thanks
by Dani (PIP summer intern)
Every once in a while, each of us goes through a stage or phase where as much as we hate to, we need to rely on the kindness of friends, family, and even strangers to help us out. Sometimes we are home bound and a friend will run to the grocery store for us. Other times, we need someone to take us to the doctor's office, pick our children up from school, or just be there with a heartfelt hug. It seems insensitive, verging on insulting to offer a “too big” gift as a thank you, but a little token of thanks is thoughtful, sweet, and absolutely appropriate. Our suggestion is that if, and when, you are finding yourself relying on the kindness of others, consider stocking up on small gifts that you can keep in a basket and give when the moment moves you. Surprisingly, it has been hard to find the perfect token gifts of appreciation but here are a few of our favorites. Keep checking back because as we come across “little somethings” we will add them here.
Hint: Items that come bundled but are packed attractively, individually, can easily be broken up into smaller gifts. Instead of giving a pack of 24 soaps, give just one or tie 3 together with personalized ribbon!
