Little Gifts of Thanks
by Dani (PIP summer intern)
Every once in a while, each of us goes through a stage or phase where as much as we hate to, we need to rely on the kindness of friends, family, and even strangers to help us out. Sometimes we are home bound and a friend will run to the grocery store for us. Other times, we need someone to take us to the doctor's office, pick our children up from school, or just be there with a heartfelt hug. It seems insensitive, verging on insulting to offer a “too big” gift as a thank you, but a little token of thanks is thoughtful, sweet, and absolutely appropriate. Our suggestion is that if, and when, you are finding yourself relying on the kindness of others, consider stocking up on small gifts that you can keep in a basket and give when the moment moves you. Surprisingly, it has been hard to find the perfect token gifts of appreciation but here are a few of our favorites. Keep checking back because as we come across “little somethings” we will add them here.
Hint: Items that come bundled but are packed attractively, individually, can easily be broken up into smaller gifts. Instead of giving a pack of 24 soaps, give just one or tie 3 together with personalized ribbon!
