If you and your family have not yet seen Disney Pixar's Coco, we highly recommend you head on over to Netflix or Amazon Prime Video! This is easily one of our all time favorite movies. Coco is an educational, adorable and heart-warming animated film about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). If you and your children are a fan of the movie seriously consider using the movie to inspire your next birthday party. Not only will your party be visually brilliant, its beautiful meaningful message will set your party apart from the rest, in only good ways! (This is a great theme for classroom parties as well). From the moment your guests step foot into your party you can set the New Orleans tone by playing one of these great Mardi Gras party CD's. The jazzy music sound unique to New Orleans will encourage your guests to feel festive and dance around your party setting a great vibe for the night.
Imagine having a temporary tattoo or a jester face painting station to encourage kids and adults who didn't come dressed to theme to get involved in the excitement of the holiday. A photo booth with masks and beads to dress your guests up will bring the New Orleans feel to your celebration and would make great photos to fill up a Mardi Gras themed photo album or to send home with your guests.
For a more cost effective way to entertain your guest, think printable Mardi Gras games. They are a great way to get your guests involved in the fun without breaking the bank. No matter how you entertain your guests at your Mardi Gras celebration just make sure to channel the jazzy high energy vibe of New Orleans and everyone will let loose and have a great time!
And of course, everyone will know the party is coming to a close when you and your guests adjourn to outside to break the pinata!
Let Party Idea {Pros} inspire you to throw the most festive Mardi Gras Party outside of New Orleans!
As you well know, successful children's parties need detailed planning. Down time often equals trouble because when you put a bunch of kids together with nothing to do, I promise you they will either create drama (girls) or create chaos (boys). That is why Party Idea Pros highly recommends slotting in at least 4 organized activities in addition to eating. We recommend planning a doing activity, a craft activity, a game activity, and ending the party with a breaking the pinata. Additionally, we always plan an extra game or two just in case the kids aren't feeling one the activities we planned or each activity goes more quickly than anticipated. Remember it is much easier to cut out a planned game than it is to create one on the spot.
For Halloween consider planning a Witch Hunt as your doing activity where you turn out the lights, and players search in the dark with flashlights for witch paper cut-outs secretly placed around the party area! We love the Color Your Own Halloween Paddleball Games as the craft activity. And the Bean Bag Toss, Dart Board, Disk Drop, and Pin The Tail On The Cat all work for the game activity. And of course, there are plenty of great Halloween pinatas available. For the “just in case” games simply print out a few Halloween theme printable games and if you need them, you can let the kids choose which one to play. Also, for Halloween we would add one more activity – a fashion show so the kids can “show off” their costumes!
Halloween Piñatas are not only perfect additions to any party they may be a great alternative for those of you not so into trick or treating, begging for candy by knocking on strangers doors. The fact is that some children really do find the holiday of Halloween scary and overwhelming so inviting a few friends over to your house for a costume party may be just the answer. Send out Halloween invitations, serve Halloween theme food & drink, play Halloween games, offer cute Halloween party favors, have a costume fashion show, and end the festivities with breaking the piñata so everyone walks away with a bagful of candy. This way you also have complete control over the candy and don't have to comb through pillow cases full of yucky unwrapped candy handed out by strangers.
